As early as the 17th century, the University of Pont-A-Mousson included a chair of Pharmacy. When King Stanislas died and the kingdom of Lorraine was incorporated into the kingdom of France, the University moved to Nancy in 1768. The University of Nancy disappeared during the Revolution Period. A school of Medicine and Pharmacy was then created in Nancy in 1843. It became a Faculty in 1920.

This prize medal was awarded in analytical chemistry and toxicology to a 3rd-year student.

This model seems to be the first one to be used for prize medals in Nancy
