The teaching of pharmaceutical sciences in Grenoble started in 1773, thanks to Dominique Villard, a reknown botanist.

The School of Medicine and Pharmacy was established by the decree of 1840. The Faculty was created in 1962.

This prize medal was awarded in chemistry to a second-year student.

The same medal type is also known in bronze and for other years (1905)
