Emile Jungfleisch graduated as a pharmacist in 1869. Assistant of Berthelot, he became professor of organic chemistry in 1876 at the Paris School of Pharmacy. He was member of the French Academy of Sciences (1909), of the French Academy of Medicine (1880) and received the Legion of Honor.
