Obverse : BURDIGALENS ORDO PHARMACOPOL Although not dated, this token was probably struck toward the end of the XVIIIth century, prior to the Consulate. The texts related to the Compagnie des apothicaires de Bordeaux, do not mention its use. The apothicaries of the city of Bordeaux were organized under a society at the beginning of the 16th century. A new corporation was founded in 1693, but it ended under the French revolution in 1791. Please, note the masonic symbols on the token. A second type exists with the date 1782. |
