Thomas Lonsdale Leeming (1837-1902) was born in England and founded the eponymous company in 1881. The Thomas Leeming Company began as a small manufacturer of antiseptic and analgesic ointments originally developed by Parisian Doctor Bengue. Leeming purchased the rights to market it in the United States as Ben-Gay Ointment. The Leeming Company merged with Pfizer in 1961.
