Medal issued for the 200th anniversary of the birth of the German pharmacist Friedrich Wilhelm Sertüner. Although he did not discover morphine, Sertürner was the first to publish his scientific work on it in 1805-1806. He discovered its alcaloïd nature and named it morphium.
