10 mark coin issued in 1969 by the German Democratic Republic to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the death of Johann Friedrich Böttger.

Johann Friedrich Böttger was pharmacy apprentice and became interested in alchemy. Later, he collaborated with Von Tschirnhaus to discover a hard porcelain which became famous, the Saxony porcelain. He founded the Porcelain manufacture of Meissen.

According to World Coins, the coin was issued at 100,000 pieces.
