The teaching of pharmacy in Amiens started in 1804, soon after the decree of 1803 creating the first three schools of pharmacy in France (Paris, Strasbourg, Montpellier). Another decree in 1840 created 23 schools of medicine and pharmacy, including Amiens.

The teaching of toxicology and pharmacognosy in Amiens was particularly recognized in the middle of the XIXth century.

This medal is a prize medal awarded in 1907. It also exists for 1906.
